URGENT APPEAL
Help Us Help The Victims Of The Tsunami Victims Of Aceh.....
The Indonesian NGO Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) has medical teams in Aceh on the ground to assist the tsunami victims there. MER-C is one of the few organizations that already has experienced staff in Aceh.
MER-C has been dispatched teams since 26 December 2004, consists medical doctors, paramedics, nurses and volunteer assistants, together with medical supplies, clothes and food. They are coming from Jakarta, Semarang, Malang, and Madura.
The focus of the teams is to provide assistance in Banda Aceh and Meulaboh, the two largest towns, hit hardest by the earthquake and ensuing tsunami waves.
We need your help to ensure critical aid and assistance to children and families
On top of the Idr. 700.000.000 (about US$80.000) already collected locally and already used on supplies and operations, MER-C desperately need further funds for:
Medical supplies
Drinking water
Fuel for transportation
Rental of bulldozers, trucks and tractors
Communications equipment
Satellite mobilephone
Clothes and food
Emergency Field Clinic in Meulaboh

The community's fund has been used to buy medicine, the foodstuff, tractor rent, bulldozer rent, vehicle rent to carry and distribute the goods. Some medicine that was bought in Jakarta is about 100 million.For the need of the logistics around Rp. 100 million
The short-term plan of MER-C was to establish the field emergency hospital) in Meulaboh. The fund that was needed at least IDR 700 million
Tsunami disaster alleviation for Aceh and surroundings from medical perspective (soon!)
